About

Misha Cvet / Миша Цвет
Misha Cvet was born on October 3, 1995 in Khabarovsk, Russia. After some years he moved to Maykop, where he spent his youth. Now he lives and works in Dubai.
He started drawing in 2008 with graffiti and until 2015 mostly painted graffiti on walls and paper. In 2015 Misha began making digital illustrations and canvases, and the walls stayed: graffiti is still a constant part of his practice.
When writing artworks, he tries to interpret the received life experience and relies on internal feelings, preferring to work in the style of symbolism or surrealism.
In my own words
I was never a bomber. I paint for my own pleasure: it does not matter to me how visible the wall is or how big the piece is. I like to paint for a long time, without rushing, focusing on the process and the details. For about ten years now I have painted without sketches.
For me a wall is not just a surface: the place and its atmosphere matter too, a fence nobody needs, an abandoned building or something else. And in the process itself what matters most is the spray can: it gives you fades, you can fill fast or slow, there are lots of techniques in it. On a wall I get more freedom and pleasure, and I finish a piece in one go. I try to make a meaty piece: letters and a character together.
Jimmy is my alter ego, the mages are mine too. Many works come from what I have lived through: anger, greed, different situations in life. A work should be both beautiful and meaningful: I show a person my experience, and they can live it in their own way. Sometimes the meaning just does not come, and then I at least try to make it beautiful.
Cvet is just my tag.
